The AustChina Institute
The AustChina Institute (ACI) is inviting researchers, academics, and policy professionals to contribute evidence-based, balanced analysis on Australia–China relations by submitting their insights for publication on the ACI website. In addition to research conducted by our core team, ACI is seeking contributing authors to broaden and diversify perspectives on the Australia–China relationship, as well as related foreign affairs and policy issues. This initiative offers contributing authors an opportunity to share their expertise and actively shape the dialogue on Australia–China relations.

The 22nd International Conference of Australian Studies in China
As an annual academic event hosted by the Chinese Association for Australian Studies (CASS), this conference is dedicated to enhancing mutual understanding, friendship and trust between China and Australia, and to consolidating and deepening the China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The International Conference of Australian Studies in China has established itself as a highly influential academic gathering within the Australian studies communities of both China and the wider world. The 22nd conference is scheduled to take place at Nantong University from October 23 to 25, 2026. China and Australia have long enjoyed a solid foundation for cultural exchanges and broad prospects for cooperation in the humanities field. Under the theme of “Antipodean Affinities: Australian Studies for Civilizational Mutual Learning”, the 22nd Conference aims to further deepen academic exchanges and practical cooperation between the two countries in the humanities, so as to facilitate the building of a shared future.

How can humanists, philologists, historians and other Australian Studies scholars, make sense of their work in a world of profit-driven higher education? If the purpose of our work is to cultivate intellectual growth and critical thinking by engaging with culture beyond mass consumption and social media feeds, how are we to continue to contribute to slow reading, critical thinking, and social changes both inside and beyond our classrooms?
This two-day online symposium is designed to foster cooperative discussions among Australian Studies scholars in Europe, Australia, North America and the Global South.
